How to play
One cat lives on this page, and it's the same cat for everyone. There is one big red button. Together, keep the cat alive for as long as you can.
The button
Every press brings the next kibble a little closer. When the ring around the button fills up, clac: a kibble drops from the ceiling, bounces and rolls across the floor. The press that completes the ring gets the credit for that kibble.
The more kibble already on the floor, the more presses the next one costs:
- 1 · empty floor
- 2
- 3
- 5
- 8
- 13
- 21
- 34…
So when the floor is empty, a single press saves the cat. But nobody can build a mountain of kibble and walk away: past about ten, it takes hundreds of presses.
The first time you feed the cat, you're asked for a nickname. It's how you show up on the leaderboard and next to what you do in the room. It has to be unique, and friendly.
The belly
- The cat's belly empties slowly: from full to empty in about 8 minutes.
- One kibble is worth about 75 seconds of food.
- The cat only goes for a kibble once its belly drops below the notch on the gauge (75%). A kibble only counts once the cat has walked over and finished eating it, about 6 seconds after the clac.
- Below 20%, the cat is starving. Don't wait until the last second: it needs those few seconds to reach the kibble and eat it.
- An empty belly is fatal.
When nobody's around
When nobody is on the page, the cat naps on its cushion and gets hungry half as fast, so people can take turns. But never for hours: whoever comes next finds it asleep and wakes it up.
The litter box
- Every three meals, the cat uses its litter box and leaves a clump in the sand.
- Tap the litter box to scoop one clump. Everyone sees who did it.
- From four clumps on, the box stinks and the cat loses health, faster with every extra clump.
- Leaving a dirty box, the cat runs across the room and leaves dirty paw prints. Tap them to wipe them: five prints count as much dirt as one clump.
Health and cuddles
- Below 80% health, the cat is sick: green cheeks, flat ears, sneezes.
- A sick cat only gets worse, even with a clean box. Clean the box first, then tap the cat to cuddle it: each cuddle gives back a little health, and the more people cuddle, the faster it recovers.
- Back above 80%, it gets better on its own, as long as the box stays clean.
- At 0% health, the cat dies.
Game over and records
When the cat starves or gets too sick, the game is over and everyone sees how long it lived. A few seconds later a new kitten arrives, with a new name and a new coat, and the clock starts again. The goal: keep a cat alive longer than the world record.
The leaderboard ranks players by kibbles created, today, this week and of all time. It also remembers every cat that ever lived.
Bonuses
When they're available, you can watch a short, optional ad to drop a kibble right away, make your presses count three times for 60 seconds, or toss a yarn ball to the cat for 20 seconds. One every 90 seconds at most.
Tips
- Stockpiling stops helping past about ten kibbles: the litter box catches up with you. Come back to clean, not just to click.
- Leave the tab open in the background: its title tells you when the cat is starving or sick.
- Share the page. The more people look after the cat, the longer it lives.
